The Bureau Provides a Diversity of Programs and Services to the Community Statewide.

Our Services
The Cape Fear Regional Bureau For Community Action, Inc. is more than just an outreach program or an agency that is secure within the confines of its offices talking about what is “wrong” and doing little.
The Bureau provides Community/Street Outreach to the members of our communities in need seven days a week, twenty–four hours per day. If we are not in the office, in the community, at a training event or whatever takes us directly away from serving the community our telephones are ever ready to take messages and needs in time of crisis – insuring the caller that a Bureau representative will be checking the message center in a timely fashion, allowing us to be of service to them.
The Bureau has an active Macho Men’s Initiative Program that reaches out to the bisexual/down low men of color. We realize that this population must be reached, educated and tested in order to reduce the number of women of color from being infected.
Our Faith Initiative Program began twelve years ago with our first Statewide AIDS Sunday Event. This year we celebrated our Twelfth Statewide AIDS Sunday Event. In order to have the needed community changes and personal behavior changes, to prevent the social ills effecting our communities, the Faith Community must be an active member in the Program for Change.
Many community–based organizations do not have the skills to be as effective as they may be in the community and/or in need of infra structure and capacity building. The Cape Fear Regional Bureau For Community Action, Inc. provides a Mentoring Program statewide to help these community–based organizations develop themselves to their full capacity to effectively serve the community.
We are daily involved in Statewide Community Planning and Organizing. The Bureau is known for its statewide galvanizing and mobilizing the communities across the state into action for various programs addressing the issues and needs confronting the citizens of North Carolina.
To offend the incarcerated is a forgotten population in need of our services. The Bureau is actively involved with the Department of Corrections in providing education to the incarcerated concerning sexually transmitted diseases and other social issues confronting them while incarcerated and when they are release, ranging from substance abuse, housing to effective employment.
It is a known fact that there is major health disparity problem among minority communities, especially people of color. One of the purposes of the Bureau is to address health disparities and unite the community into a working program to eliminate this problem within the community of people of color.
Having all these and other services united for one major purpose, Community Empowerment, is another objective of the Bureau. If our communities are not empowered to serve themselves and to effectively address the issues confronting them, there will never be a change – the change must come from within the community to be effective. The Bureau’s Community Empowerment Program is dedicated to this cause.
All of the programs and services would not be possible without the effective Private and Public Partnershipping Program the Bureau has with various communities, community civic leaders, local, state and federal governments, faith communities and many private businesses. However, not even this would be possible without the dedicated support of the average citizen like you.
